Today is Eva’s birthday. We celebrate each year with a birthday dinner of her choosing and she almost always chooses to go to House of Fortune. We like it there and always have a good meal. Tonight’s meal was so good. We had sushi and sesame chicken and more. Eva was very happy with her choice of meal.
I was provided a digital copy of Disney’s The Lion King (The Live Action One) for free to give away. They also gave me one to use so I could watch the movie myself and give you my thoughts. Opinions are my own.
The Lion King is one of my all time favorite animated movies. I was interested to see the take on the movie in a live action format. With lifelike lions and animals and an almost entirely new cast. Some folks are reprising their roles and we have some new people in iconic roles. Namely Timon and Pumba. Those guys were the funniest characters and Nathan Lane is amazing. Billy Eichner does his level best to bring that role to life as his own and I think he did an amazing job. The movie is visually beautiful and the photrealistic animals are spectacular. I enjoyed the movie very much and am happy to be able to give a copy to you. Please enter below through the Rafflecopter app.

I tell the kids all the time to put shoes on in the house and not to run around in socks. Today I was heading downstairs to take a shower and I was wearing fuzzy blue socks. I wear them to keep my feet warm in bed. I should have put some slippers on before heading downstairs but I didn’t. I was on the top step and slipped. My feet went forward out from under me and then they slipped step after step and I came down hard on my backside and then one leg went between the banister but the rest of me kept going. I broke one of the spindles and scraped up my leg and jammed up my fingers. When I landed, nearly upside-down, at the bottom of the stairs I stopped and caught my breath. I know I’m gonna feel it in the morning.
Playmates Toys sent me the whole set of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shadow Ninjas line for free to open and review. Opinions are my own.
I have quite a few Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures. Some of my favorites are from the 2013 series line but I was really knocked out to to see the Shadow Ninjas in Target one day. I asked my contact at Playmates Toys about them and asked if they could send me a set to review. These are a really cool line. I love how they are ultra bulky and mean looking. I made a couple of unboxing videos of two of the turtles and opened the other two at work where I display the set. The videos are below.
I follow Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson on Instagram and have been following his journey in filming Disney’s Jungle Cruise. I cannot wait to see the actual movie. The teaser trailer is great and this looks like a fantastically fun movie to see this coming Summer. The Rock has always had incredible charisma and he’s going to create such a fun character.
Inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, Disney’s JUNGLE CRUISE is an adventure-filled, Amazon-jungle expedition starring Dwayne Johnson as the charismatic riverboat captain and Emily Blunt as a determined explorer on a research mission. Also starring in the film are Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, with Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti.
Jaume Collet-Serra is the director and John Davis, John Fox, Dwayne Johnson, Hiram Garcia, Dany Garcia and Beau Flynn are the producers, with Doug Merrifield serving as executive producer.
Disney’s JUNGLE CRUISE opens in U.S. theaters on July 24, 2020.

Today there was a Fortnite event. It was the end of season 10 and apparently the end of Fortnite as we know it. The event happened at 2pm and the interesting things happened in about 7 minutes then after that there was a black hole. The black hole just keeps going and going. So, no one can play Fortnite at this point. I’ve been hearing rumors that the game won’t be back up until Tuesday. I actually recorded a 4 hour video. However, I published a much shorter video that shows the event and then part of the black hole. Of course I did not even realize that there was a minigame that you could play while you waited. It was like space invaders but featured pizza and Durrburgers. The funny thing is that this was probably the game that Jonesy and Peely played when they were stuck in the bunker. It definitely was the game because they both have their names on the high scores.
When the 4 hour video posts I’ll add that here, too.
The upcoming Disney Pizar movie, Onward looks like a cross between Weekend at Bernie’s and so many road trip movies set in a fantasy world. The voice cast is pretty great with Tom Holland and Chris Pratt as two brothers who are on a quest to see if there is still magic left in the world. They are also trying to capture one day with their late father. They try a spell but it is not complete and so they only bring their father back halfway. More about the movie can be found below including the new trailer.
Disney and Pixar’s “Onward,” which hits theaters March 6, 2020, unveiled a new trailer, poster and images this morning. Set in a suburban fantasy world, “Onward” introduces two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot (voices of Tom Holland and Chris Pratt), who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still a little magic left out there. Also featuring the voice of Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Ian and Barley’s mom, Laurel Lightfoot, and Octavia Spencer as the voice of the Manticore, Pixar Animation Studios’ all-new original feature film is directed by Dan Scanlon and produced by Kori Rae—the team behind “Monsters University.”
The other day at the New York Comic Con there was a special She-Ra panel and during the panel the new looks for the characters were revealed. They also revealed a new teaser trailer and the date of the next season. I am happy to hear that the season will be 13 episodes and so not a tiny 6 or 7 episode season. I can’t stand when they do that. thirteen is a good amount of episodes. Fans there even got to watch the first episode of the season and then were treated to a panel with executive producer Noelle Stevenson, Aimee Carrero (Adora/She-Ra), A.J. Michalka (Catra), Karen Fukuhara (Glimmer), and Lauren Ash (Scorpia) moderated by TV Guide Features Editor Krutika Mallikarjuna.
The she-Ra themed poster for the season features a whole new look for Glimmer who has become the new queen of Bright Moon and leader of the Rebellion.
The Horde poster features Catra as the co-leader of The Horde. She is also sporting a new look.
Season 4 begins with the respective rises of Queen Glimmer as leader of the Rebellion and Catra as co-leader of the Horde. As the Horde makes advances on the Rebellion under the looming threat of Horde Prime’s arrival, the Princess Alliance makes heroic strides but begins to disagree on the best way to defend Etheria. Ultimately, a shocking discovery about Etheria itself causes Adora to reconsider everything she thought she knew.
In a season where relationships and power dynamics are in constant flux, the cast gave a sneak peek inside other pieces of the season including new character designs for Glimmer and Catra, Lauren Ash shared a clip from an episode focused on Scorpia, and Stevenson teased that there’s a special episode called “Boys Night Out” that includes a couple musical numbers.
New York Comic Con fans surprised with new season 4 teaser trailer and posters.
Some of the Panel Highlights Included:
The audience had a great reaction to Glimmer and Catra’s new looks
People were thrilled to learn that there will be an episode focused on Scorpia

We had a day off of school today and rather than go out for an adventure we decided to stay in and play some games and watch a movie together. We watched Toy Story 4 and I think everyone enjoyed it. I did find it more emotional the second time but then again I had just worked a 12 hour overnight shift and I am more susceptible to big feelings when I’m exhausted. I had through that the last movie was a good end point but they managed to make a great story that gives another good ending.
I had been sent a couple of table top games to try out and they will be featured in my video holiday gift guide coming in November. I’ll be showcasing different toys every day on the YouTube channel and on this blog.
The games we got were from Amigo games and they were X-Code a cooperative game that focuses on communication so that everyone an work together to crack a code in 3 minutes. We played a couple of rounds of this and it was fun and quick and easy. The other game was called Carnival of Monsters and this one was much more in depth. I think I started to lose everyone as I read through the rules. We muddled through the first round and then were able to pick up the game and get into it. Lots of strategy and fun to it. I’ll be talking about it much more in a few weeks.
Building Block Press sent me a copy of the book Frankie’s Scared of Everything for free to read and review. They are also providing the giveaway prize. Opinions are my own.
Frankie’s Scared of Everything is a beautifully illustrated book about a young boy who’s overactive imagination is making it hard for him to sleep. The book was written and illustrated by Matthew Franklin who is a tattoo artist, painter, graphic designer, and musician. After receiving degrees in painting and photography from Miami University he immediately became a staple in the art scene in Columbus, Ohio where he currently resides. The story is one we have heard before in that a child cannot go to sleep because their imagination comes up with scary monsters that keep them up at night. What I found nice and refreshing is that the mom tells Frankie that everything that he thinks is a monster was once an idea in someone’s imagination. She also tells him that he has the power to determine whether or not the things in his own imagination will be scary or not. He can turn things around with his imagination.
I am able to give away a copy of the book as well as two temporary tattoos, and a neon mini-notebook for letting your kids’ own imaginations run wild. To enter please use the Rafflecopter widget below. Make sure that you leave a comment on this post in order to qualify to win. The giveaway is open only to those in the US and Canada and you have to be 13 or older.
